From residents' evening to project update: digital communication for Warmtenet Zandweerd

The construction of the Zandweerd Smart Heat Network in Deventer entailed construction work, road closures, and changes to accessibility for several months. To involve residents not only in advance but also to keep them well informed during the execution, Buro Rondom deployed the BaaS platform from Traffic Solvers on behalf of Siers. Through targeted digital campaigns, residents were invited to information meetings and directed to the BouwApp, where they could follow the most up-to-date project information, schedule, and works.

“The deployment provided us with additional opportunities to communicate with the surrounding area in a targeted and flexible manner. Our goal was to optimally inform local residents and road users and to limit inconvenience as much as possible. Given the very low number of reports, this was very successful.” – Buro Rondom

Involve residents at an early stage

Even before the start of the works, residents were invited to various information meetings via social media. The campaigns drew residents' attention to the meetings and directed them to the BouwApp for additional project information and future updates.

During the works, residents were informed via social media about the progress, changed schedules, new phases, temporary closures, and diversions. For comprehensive information and the most up-to-date status, they were consistently referred to the BouwApp, which served as a central information point.

Using geofencing, the campaigns were shown exclusively to residents and road users in and around the project area. As a result, the messages reached exactly the people affected by the works, ensuring the communication was relevant and targeted.

Each project phase requires a different message. Thanks to the platform, Buro Rondom was able to easily switch between resident participation campaigns, project updates, and disruption communication. This ensured that the local community received relevant information whenever needed.
